Our Story

Serving Toronto's Muslims Since 1999

In 1999, a dedicated group of Muslims from Toronto's Parkdale neighborhood came together with a shared vision: to establish a true Islamic center in the heart of their community.

What began as a modest gathering has grown into Hamza Masjid — the Parkdale Islamic Education Centre (PIEC) — a vibrant institution serving approximately 1,000 Muslim families in downtown Toronto. Every week, our prayer hall fills to capacity for Friday Jumu'ah, a testament to the deep roots our community has planted here.

Hamza Masjid has been established as a nonprofit charitable organization, debt-free and fully community-supported. We are proud to have earned the trust of our community through over 25 years of consistent, transparent service to Allah and His creation.

Our Mission

A Complete Center for Muslim Life

The Parkdale Islamic Education Centre has become a focal point for the Muslims of Toronto. It is centrally located in the heart of a Muslim community and serves the religious, social, and educational needs of this community.

Worship

Five daily prayers held in congregation, three Friday Jumu'ah congregations, and Tarawih prayers throughout Ramadan — keeping our community connected to Allah.

Education

Islamic studies for children on Sundays, weekly study circles for adults, Quran classes with Tajweed, and educational programs conducted by Imam Ayoub.

Community

A welcoming home for 1,000+ Muslim families — celebrating Eid, supporting one another through life's milestones, and building lasting bonds of brotherhood.

Growing for the Future

The Masjid Expansion Project

Alhamdulillah, through the generous support of our community, we have raised $1,100,000 toward our $1.8 million expansion goal.

We are planning to purchase the adjacent storefront so we can expand Hamza Masjid and have an extended prayer hall, a dedicated ladies' section, and a full madrasa facility, Insha'Allah.

Insha'Allah, future plans also include facilities for funeral services and a full-time school for Muslim children, which will incorporate the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum along with Islamic studies.
